I HAVE READ A BOOK:
I chose Alice In Wonderland to read a few pages of because I have seen the film, but never read the book. This intrigued me to see if the book and the films were any similar or whether they were really different. I have seen both the modern version and the classical version of Alice In Wonderland the film and I feel the classical one was better in the sense of how original it was however, the modernised version was still very successful and was very popular, and I feel as though the book was the same.
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is an 1865 fantasy novel written by English mathematician Charles Lutwidge Dodgson under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll. It tells of a girl named Alice falling through a rabbit hole into a fantasy world populated by peculiar, anthropomorphic creatures. The tale plays with logic, giving the story lasting popularity with adults as well as with children. It is considered to be one of the best examples of the literary nonsense genre. Its narrative course and structure, characters and imagery have been enormously influential in both popular culture and literature, especially in the fantasy genre.
I feel as though the book told a more in depth story about how Alice was feeling when she experienced falling down the hole and meeting the Mad Hatter etc. because you can create more of a story in your head, putting yourself in her position, however in the film, you can see how she is feeling due to her facial expressions and boy language rather than you imagining it in your head. What I have learnt in response to this task was that reading a book allows you to experiment more when imagining things because the book doesn't do that for you.
I don't think reading this book has truly inspired me to work in response of the style on how it was written and how the film was produced but, it has encouraged me to read more as it was an enjoyable task and I would happily do it again.
I would definitely recommend reading this book as it is suitable for any ages, ranging from children to adults and even elderly.
